VOTING RESULTS ARE IN!

We asked our families to help us select the name of our Husky as well as our new school motto.  The results are in.  It was a close race but the new motto for Mayland Heights will be Building Strong Community Together and the name of our Husky will be named Scout!  Stay tuned for opportunities to purchase your swag for Mayland Heights.  As you can see below the results were close.  Thank you to everyone who voted.

Learn How to Access Report Cards, Attendance Information and More

Families can view, download or print online report cards for kindergarten to Grade 12 students on Monday, Jan. 27 until May 30, 2025 through MyCBE.

Within MyCBE, families can also view student information, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades and attendance information.

How is My Child Doing in School?

Report cards summarize and communicate student achievement at a point in time. In addition to the report card, schools communicate with parents/guardians about student progress on an ongoing basis in a variety of ways.

Outdoor School Mandatory Meeting for Grade 6 students and families

There will be a mandatory parent information night at Mayland Heights School on Thursday, January 30th, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Attendance at this meeting is required as per Calgary Board of Education (CBE) policy.

Family Literacy Week (January 27 to 31)

Family Literacy Week is meant to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family.

Since 1999, schools, libraries, literacy organizations and other community groups across the country have taken part in the initiative. ABC creates free learning and promotional resources for anyone that wants to get involved.  Families are encouraged to visit their website for ideas.  https://abclifeliteracy.ca/programs/family-literacy-day/  Taking time every day to read or do a learning activity with children is crucial to a child’s development, improving a child’s literacy skills dramatically, and can help a parent improve their skills as well.

Family Literacy Day 2025 Theme: Learn to be Green, Together

Make a pledge as a family to learn ways to be more green. Use less electricity, commute together, and reuse items. Being green together is a fun way to learn as a family while being kind to the environment.
