DELF Exam for grade 5 French Immersion Students
Students in our Grade 5 French immersion classes who have registered for the A1 / introductory level Diplome d’études de la langue française (DELF) will be practicing a mock exam on Tuesday, April 16th in preparation for the real DELF exam on Thursday, April 18th.
The DELF is the internationally-recognized standard for language accreditation in French. A 2023 study in CBE demonstrated that DELF completion improves students’ self-esteem about their level of French and improves students’ trajectory through the CBE’s French immersion program. It takes the form of a written and oral exam. Students who successfully complete the DELF will receive a certificate from the Ministry of International Education of France attesting to their French-language abilities. This opportunity is offered free of charge this year to families.
The exam evaluates the ability of students to use French in everyday common situations. The version of the exam that will be given is designed with the lives and experiences of children in mind.
