STUDENT LEADERSHIP SPIRIT DAY
Thursday, June 13 will be Anything but a Backpack Day (laundry hampers, suitcases, grocery bags, etc.)! Be creative.
DELF UPDATE
Grade 5 French Immersion Students will be receiving their results and certificates from the DELF French Exam on Monday, June 10th. Parents can expect to receive the certificate, Summary of Results Page and a letter to help Interpret the results of the DELF A1 Exam. Congratulations to all our Mayland Heights Students on their wonderful accomplishments. Félicitations!
PAT - Provincial Achievement Tests (Grade 6 English only)
Provincial Achievement Exams are approaching. Grade 6 students have been using the new Vretta platform for practice exams in order to prepare for June 19th and June 20th when they write the PATs.
PAT Exams this year are as scheduled:
- June 19th - PAT Grade 6 only Social Studies
- June 20 -PAT Grade 6 only Science
In order for students to be successful during PATs it is important that students get plenty of rest, sleep the night before. Make sure to have a healthy breakfast, bring a snack and water to have during the exam.
STUDENT PICK-UP AT THE END OF THE DAY
We are asking parents to please wait at the bottom of the stairs when picking up their child at the end of the day. Teachers for Kindergarten and Grade 1 will bring their students outside to meet their parents and we need to clear the doors for everyone. Thank you for understanding.
We also ask that any parents who arrive after 3:15PM to wait outside to pick up their child at 3:30PM. It is very difficult to call classrooms during the last 15 minutes of the day, we are receiving too many requests to page classrooms at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
National Indigenous People's Day- June 21st
For generations, many Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on June 21 or around that time of year because of the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.
Parents MUST be ON TIME at the bus stops. Bus Drivers are also not able to wait for parents to arrive at the bus stop in the afternoon. If they wait for parents to pick up their children past the scheduled time, then they are late for all the following stops. We ask all parents for their attention to this matter and consideration for all students and parents.
FIELD TRIPS AND VOLUNTEER CHECKS
Many field trips are happening in the next few months and we encourage parents to volunteer with their child’s class if possible. Please make sure you have been cleared as a volunteer. The process can be completed online through your MyCBE Account. If you have any questions, please contact the office 403-777-6290.
