Halloween at School
On Thursday, October 31st, students are permitted to dress up in their halloween costumes if they wish. Costumes must be worn to come to school, no wardrobe or make up sessions in the washrooms will be permitted. We ask students to follow the expectations below:
-No weapons, no gore and no full-face masks. We also ask families to save treats for the evening trick-or-treaters in your community. We will not be having classroom parties on the 31st of halloween.
Jacket Racket Donations
Jacket Racket has been providing clean, gently used winter jackets to Calgary children since the 1980’s. The project runs every year from mid-October to mid-November. Coats, snow pants, hats and mittens are collected, sorted and distributed by a group of dedicated volunteers. The distribution is done through the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District. If you have any winter items to donate for this cause, please drop them off at the office. Thank you for your support.
Lost and Found
Our school's Lost and Found area is growing again! Please make sure to have your children look for their missing items. We will display the items during the October Family Dance as well, so take a look in case you recognize a coat, sweater or water bottle that usually lives in your home.
Board Games or Puzzle Donations
We are inviting families who may have some puzzles or board games at home that they are no longer using to consider donating them to our classrooms. We are looking for games that have all the pieces necessary to play, are in good condition and appropriate for elementary aged children. These board games and puzzles can be brought in and delivered at the office. Our students will appreciate using these during our rainy or colder lunch recesses. Thank you for the donations we have already received.
Parents and Visitors in the School
All parents and visitors are required to report to the office. Parents are not permitted to travel in the school hallways without being accompanied by a staff member. We ask all parents to say their goodbyes at the front door in the morning and allow their children to build independence by entering the building on their own and carrying their personal items themselves (backpacks, lunch box and shoes). This is to ensure safety for all students and staff at Mayland Heights. We thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding.
Remembrance Day Assembly
You are invited to join us for our Remembrance Day assembly on November 6th 2024 at 10:45 AM. Mme Stunell and Mme Parkhurst's class will be presenting, however we would love to see all our parents there to honor this special occasion. We also encourage any cadets, Girl Guides, or Boy Scouts to wear their uniforms to honour our veterans. Let’s come together to remember and reflect as a community. We look forward to seeing you.
