Cold Weather Policy
We recognize the value of outdoor breaks such as recess and lunch during the school day, however, when the temperatures reach -20 Celsius or colder including the wind-chill factor, students will not be going outside. Please dress your children with all their winter clothing for recess and lunch. Students will be going outside in the winter. We recommend that students wear a few layers in order to stay warm.
OPEN HOUSE for NEW Registrations at Mayland Heights
On Thursday, January 16th from 5:30PM - 6:30PM we will be hosting an information meeting for new families interested in French Immersion in Kindergarten and Grade 1 for September 2025. We have publicity in the NE communities and encourage our Mayland Heights parents to let their friends and neighbours know about our school.
French Classes for Parents
Chinook Learning Services offers courses specifically designed for parents and caregivers of CBE French Immersion students.
For Winter 2025, Chinook Learning Services is offering French for Parents – Level 1.
This eight-week course will help parents of immersion students learn or refresh their French language skills, build their network of bilingual parents and support their children’s learning at home.

Traffic Concerns at Mayland Heights
Thank you to the many parents who are trying to help a smoother flow to the traffic on Maunsell Drive during drop off and pick up times. Our buses need space to drive to the school when they turn on Maunsell Dr. from McKinnon Dr. We ask that parents please park on McKinnon Dr and walk to the school to pick up their children.
Please consider driving in the same direction as the school buses to help circulation and safety for everyone. Please DO NOTmake U-Turns in the middle of the road or drop off children in the middle of the road. This is very dangerous for everyone.
Thank you for your cooperation. We have also engaged the City of Calgary and Traffic Bylaw in examining the situation more closely.
