Field Trip Volunteers Needed

We have several field trips planned for the last 2 months of our school year and in order to participate we need parent volunteers.  Please consider volunteering for a field trip if you can.  Without parent volunteers, our field trips cannot take place.  If you are interested in volunteering for other classes than your own children, please let us know and we will reach out with opportunities to support other classes at Mayland Heights School.

Upcoming field trips that require volunteers:

  • May 14th - Butterfield Acres with AM Kindergarten (English and French) - 9:15am - 2pm
  • May 21st - Butterfield Acres with PM Kindergarten (English and French) -9:15am - 2pm
  • May 21st - Grade 1-2 English: Granary Road 9:15am - 1:45pm

If you are interested in volunteering for any of these field trips and you have your security clearance please email Mrs. Korpela, ickorpela@cbe.ab.ca and we will connect you with the teachers organizing the trips.  If you are interested in volunteering but do not have your security clearance, please apply through your CBE Account and follow the steps under volunteering.  If you are not a parent of the CBE but wish to volunteer please contact our office at 403-777-6290.

End-of-Year Celebration for ALL Mayland Heights Families  - Mark your calendars - Wednesday, June 4th at 5:30pm to 7:30pm

We are excited to share that Mayland Heights School will be hosting an End-of-Year Celebration and Culture Evening to bring together our students, families, and staff to celebrate our diversity and an excellent year of learning. The event will feature a potluck where families are invited to share a dish that represents their culture, family games on the field, refreshments, and a showcase of student learning.

Each family is invited to bring a dish to share and take time to connect with other families. Families can bring their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the weather and picnic outside.  Teachers and administrators are looking forward to seeing everyone.

NEW Bell Times for 2025-2026 School Year

All CBE Families received email communication from our Superintendent, Mrs. Joanne Pitman regarding new bell times for several CBE Schools for the 2025-2026 School Year in response to School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025. It is the provincial government's intent to increase the number of students who can access transportation by changing the transportation eligibility distance and how the distance is measured.

New Bell Times for Mayland Heights School 2025-2026

  • Morning start: 9:15AM (Monday to Friday)
  • Afternoon Dismissal: Monday to Thursday at 3:50PM & Fridays at 1:10PM

We recognize that change brings challenges and we are committed to providing as much notice as possible to families in preparation for the next school year.

Casino Volunteers Needed for August 3rd and 4th

Sign up open for casino volunteers this August 3 and 4!

The school fundraising association needs about 40 volunteers at our casino fundraising event on Sunday, August 3 and Monday, August 4. Our last casino volunteer event raised over $80,000 for our students! This is a great chance to meet other parents at the school, plus you’ll get a free meal!

Our Casino truly benefits students at Mayland Heights as we are able to have wonderful activities sponsored for our students such as:

Fitset Ninja, swimming, skating, Grade 6 Camp, field trips, school performances, Gym Residencies such as Curling, lacrosse and Alien in-Line. Without School Council fundraising efforts these activities would not be possible as the cost to families would be too expensive. Volunteering at the CASINO gives our Fundraising Association an opportunity to raise funds quickly with a little bit of time invested.

Sign up for a volunteer shift using one of the ways below:

1. Sign up online at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B4FAFAA23A3F4CE9-56167304-casino , or

2. Complete and return the bottom portion of the form your child will bring home to your child’s teacher, or
