School Council and Parent Society -Update
Please take a moment to look at the School Council and Parent Society draft minutes from the September meeting. All parents are welcome to attend these meetings to learn about events happening in the school and also help the executive group organize events for our students at Mayland Heights.
The October meeting will be extremely important as this will be the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and all positions will be open for election. (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Members at large)
We hope to see you there on Wednesday, October 25th, the meeting starts at 6:30pm in the library.
Halloween
Students of Mayland Heights School will have the opportunity to participate in a Halloween parade on October 31 in the afternoon. Students are welcome to come to school wearing their costumes, donning an orange and black outfit, wearing their pyjamas, or come dressed in their regular clothing. There are some parameters around costumes we would like students and caregivers to follow:
- Avoid excessive gore
- Weapons of any kind are not permitted
- No masks
- Please use discretion when choosing attire, remembering the school environment includes students with varying sensitivities
- Ensure costumes are bathroom friendly and easy to get into and out of
- Ensure costumes allow for safe and easy movement at school and will not interfere with your child's ability to participate in regular class work and in gym class.
We also request that students refrain from bringing candy and treats to school. Classes will still continue with instructional time and will not be holding classroom celebrations for this event.
Visitors in our School
At Mayland Heights School, we strive to provide a safe and caring learning environment for all our staff and students. To maintain this level of safety, we are asking all parents to check in to the office if they arrive at the school to pick up their child.
PM Kindergarten: The teacher will wait at the front entrance for the afternoon students, please make sure to arrive on time. Thank you for your understanding and collaboration.
