Books on the Bus Project
CBE Transportation has worked with The Little Red Reading House Book Bank (part of the University of Calgary’s Owerko Centre) to establish the Books On Buses Project. CBE Transportation has selected schools to participate in the project. While our school was not selected, some of our buses are shared with a school that is participating in the project.
In the coming weeks, The Little Red Reading House Book Bank will provide crates filled with new and gently used books for students to read while they are on the bus. There will be a mix of age-appropriate picture, chapter and non-fiction books. The crates will be safely secured by the service provider to ensure there are no safety concerns. Students riding on buses shared by these partner schools will have access to books. Please note, not all buses at your school will have a crate available.
Students are asked to return the books at the end of each trip to share with other students. We will monitor how many books are being used and how often they need to be replenished in the new year.
Afternoon Pick Up
Monday to Thursday at 3:50PM
Fridays at 1:10PM
No calls to classrooms will be made after 3:30PM for pick up. We ask parents to consider making plans ahead of time with their children for a meeting spot around the school to facilitate the busy doorways and help vehicle traffic.
Scholastic Book Fair -VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Scholastic Book Fair will be held during the Parent Teacher Interview days once again this year. The Scholastic book fair is a fundraiser that schools undertake to support the love of reading for our school as well as raise funds to increase the library catalogue for our school.
If you are able to volunteer with us during the parent teacher times please contact Mme Korpela at ickorpela@cbe.ab.ca. You can volunteer for an hour or more as it suits your schedule.
Parent -Teacher Conferences will open on November 19, 2025

Parents/guardians and teachers are able to connect face-to-face and communicate openly about student learning, especially with respect to areas of strength and areas of growth. They help build and sustain respectful relationships that allow both parties to share information and develop strategies to support student success.
